Page Types

Page types define the structure and layout of content across the site. Choosing the right page type ensures your content is presented effectively and consistently. Each example on this site is presented as a standalone page to help you visualize how it functions in context.

Landing Page

A highly flexible, modular page designed to serve as the main entry point for a department, program, or initiative. Landing Pages support a variety of components and layout options to highlight key content and guide users through the site.

Basic Page

A simple, single-column layout ideal for static content, such as policies, procedures, or general information. Basic Pages are best used when minimal formatting or interaction is required.

Sub Landing Page

A secondary landing page used to organize and present content within a subsection of a larger site. Sub Landing Pages inherit the flexibility of Landing Pages while maintaining a clear hierarchy within the site structure.

Listing Page – News

A dynamic page that automatically displays a feed of News Articles. This page type is ideal for departments or units that regularly publish updates, announcements, or stories.

Listing Page – Contacts

A structured page that displays a directory of Profiles, such as faculty or staff listings. This page type supports filtering and sorting to help users quickly find the right contact.

Header and Footer / Navigation

These are global elements that appear across all pages and are essential to the user experience.

  • Header – Includes site branding, primary navigation links, and optional search functionality.
  • Footer – Provides links to key resources, contact information, and accessibility statements.
  • Navigation – Designed to be intuitive and consistent, supporting users as they move through the site. Navigation can be customized per site.
